FUNTOPOLIS here is inspired by a number of venus here in Orlando. It’s designed to kinda be a merger of DisneyQuest and Funspot. The former a multi-level uber arcade with virtual reality games and the latter more of a mini-fair with go-cart racing and the like. Both are fun enough by themselves, but combined you get FUNTOPOLIS!

While I’ve done this kind of thing MORE than once, it’s always a hoot to draw. Now, there was a VERY similar virtual reality game at DisneyQuest called “Ride the Comix”, where you squatted on a little weird stool like the ones seen here with a handle that, in the game, was quite essentially a Light Saber. In said game, you didn’t duel other players, but rather in-game monsters and the like. It was REALLY fun, except that you had to hold down the button on your light saber to keep the blade up, and when you did so the handle VIBRATED… a LOT. Try keeping a tight grip on something vibrating intensly for three minutes. I thought my hand was going to explode, it hurt so much to keep that dang sword on.

For the record, I’D like the commendation that Bernard’s tossing aside. I got FOUR seperate, unconnected pop-culture references in this strip while actually advancing the plot.

There’s a very fine line between what Audrey’s punchline IS and what it could have been, but that’s the line I chose to walk when I made this an all-ages strip.
On an unassociated note, have you ever noticed that cartoon characters only have watches on during the exact moment they need them? As soon as they’re not needed… POOF!
