Meet The Cast

He’s the star of the strip and he knows it! As a matter of pure technicality, he is a Dog and thus the property of the Brooks family… but he also talks up a storm, has opposable thumbs, and a commanding run of the house thanks to an attitude that doesn’t know when to quit.

Bernard is naive, optimistic and friendly… all the traits necessary to keep him on the receiving end of Dandy’s frequent pranks and jabs. And worse yet, he forgives and forgets, leaving himself the ever willing target for another attack.

Maryweather is the Dog next door and the frequent focus of Dandy’s misguided affections. While they’ve shared a relationship in the past, Maryweather broke off all ties to her friends and family to go on a soul searching sabbatical from which she’s recently returned a changed dog. Currently, the regular “on-again, off-again” status of her relationship with Dandy is set to “on”.

She lives down the street from the Brooks family, and is the owner of Maryweather. She’s prone to impulsive behavior and always follows her heart, even when a cool head might be in order. Audrey is a lover of the arts and can often be found pestering the level-headed Maryweather into helping her with her latest artistic endeavor.

Mistake possesses near supernatural levels of unstoppable cuteness. He’s so cheerful, he isn’t even aware of the mean-spirited jabs and verbal assaults thrown at him by his beloved “Big Brudder”, and that infuriates Dandy to no end! In recent months, it’s been revealed that in spite of his child-like naivete, he possesses a genius-level mechanical and technological intelligence.

Once little more than a nameless drone of Evil Dandy’s, Mr. Fuzzy was freed and reprogrammed to be Mistake’s new best friend. Built from the remains of leftover Alien technology, Mr. Fuzzy possesses many incredible abilities — from super strength, stun beams, extending limbs and tractor beams. But most of this technological might is used in his games with Mistake.

Snuffles was Dandy’s elder brother, who didn’t benefit from the adoption process like Dandy and Mistake did, and it made him MAD. It made him MEAN mad! But in spite of his past evil deeds against his estranged family and former friends, Snuffles died sacrificing himself to stop the demon Skeezicks from destroying Dandy & Maryweather.

Pumpkin is a dog with a cause: to fight for canine liberation while returning to the simple joys of being a dog. She’s good friends with Maryweather and is always trying to convince her to join in her quest for dog equality.

He’s the “man of the house” if you will… which means he’s disastrously clueless as to what occurs under his own roof. He’s disenchanted and dim-witted when it comes to raising a young boy, but he does try his best. He also seems vaguely unaware that Dandy isn’t an average dog.

She’s Bernard’s long-suffering mother. Suffering, mostly because she has to also watch over his annoying, disastrous dog. She’s under a lot of stress keeping things in line and really only cracks a smile when Dandy ends up on the receiving end of one of his own pranks.

When I created Dandy WAAAYYY back in 1982, THIS is what he looked like. And now, that original version of Dandy has crossed the 4th wall to reclaim control of the comic strip that was once his. His evil schemes know no bounds, and you just KNOW he’ll be back to reek havoc on the comic.

What’s a good evil adversary without a hapless henchman!? That’s where Evil Bernard comes in. Just read the profile for Evil Dandy, but replace “Dandy” with “Bernard”. There’s not much more to say, really, which *may* be the reason Evil Bernard often screws up his cohort’s plans for comic domination.
