I know that a trap like this COULDN’T possibly do what I drew. I understand that, really. I know that a sprinkler’s water isn’t going to freeze in mid air and stop a human in motion, but it’s just a fun visual.

All good things must come to an end, including the last few days of fun-in-the-snow gags. And in Bernard’s case, it’s ending comes with a mixed blessing.

Instead of my usual weekend frivolity, I thought I’d take the time this weekend to showcase a little bit of the new comic I’m developing, “The Wellkeeper”.
It’s a more serious, fantasy adventure in the vein of Jeff Smith’s BONE or “The Secret of NIMH” and has been brewing in the back of my mind for well over a year now. I’m currently about half finished with the first issue and am planning many more. It’s an exciting story and a visual experiment in style for me as an artist.
Without giving TOO much of the plot away, the story revolves around a girl named Zoe who inherits a unique gift that ties her to mystical portals of the earth’s lifeforce energy called Wellsprings. This power connects her to all living things but also makes her a target for those who covet her power.
If you like what you see, there’s LOTS more on my regularly updating blog at THE WELLKEEPER.COM where you can find art previews, behind the scenes sketches and lots more. I also have a MySpace page devoted to “The Wellkeeper”, and both my blog and the myspace page are in desperate need of attention, so pop on over, make some comments and enjoy!
