Exhausted

For those of you stopping by for the first time thanks to my newest guest strips running over at Scott Kurtz’s PvP, welcome to Dandy & Company. Of course, since my guest strips were prompted by Scott becoming ill, I hadn’t really PLANNED for anything going on around here to be particularly introductory for new readers. In fact, you’re kind of stopping by near the END of a big story line.

But for the new readers stopping by for the first time, Dandy & Company is the off-beat adventures of a boy and his dog. (Or a Dog and his boy, if you ask the dog.) You can become accuainted with the characters and their world in our ever-expanding archives, or just pop into our forums and say hello. Either way, I hope you have a look around and enjoy your stay. (And come back to visit! We’ve got new strips 5 days a week, after all!

And, of course, this isn’t the FIRST time i’ve ever drawn the PvP cast before. In fact, aside from my previous guest strips for Scott, I was also granted permission to use the PvP gang for a good MONTH worth of strips right here in Dandy & Company. Click here to see Dandy & Bernard square off against Francis & Skull in a race to get the latest and greatest video game system! It’s a really fun adventure that’s PvPrific!

UPDATE: Hey there, Dandy-philes! I’m getting set to move out of my current apartment and into a NEW one in April. So if you’ve ever thought about making a donation or a commission request, this would be a REALLY, REALLY good time! I’m just sayin’.

Poofy

The strip’s been pretty heavy of late, so it seemed like a good time to step back and toss in a good laugh. This one is extremely inspired by my own head.

See, I stopped shaving my head a year ago, and my hair is about 7 to 8 inches long now, so when I come out of the shower, it looks an awful lot like Dandy does today. And, of course, Bernard here is standing in for my ever loving girlfriend.

A Skrull?!

Fans of Marvel Comics will, of course, recognize the shape changing alien Skrull. Right now, there’s a whole invasion of the buggers planned for next month in all your favorite Marvel titles courtesy of writer, Brian Bendis and his penchant for dusting off long-forgotten characters and concepts.

That all said, I can pretty much assure you that our mystery trucker is NOT a Skrull. In fact, I think I’ll toss you guys a free one here by confirming that NONE of Dandy’s possible suspects are really the trucker.

And you say I never give you anything!

Dry run

This strip bugged me drawing it, because there’s no good way to really keep you all from looking at the last panel before you’ve read the rest. But I still think the gag is a good one.

Nightmares for fools

This one was a strip that grew rather organically for me. My initial idea was to do a rather straight forward April Fools gag, where I would “Reveal” the identity of the trucker as someone or something obviously silly and then throw in an “April Fools Day” at the end. But in my mind, it just took off on it’s own, as I struggled to come up with an identity of the trucker that would be perfect for an April fools gag. I really couldn’t come up with anyone sufficiently funny, and I imagined a twist where it was actually a nightmare of Dandy’s and he would just comment on how he really hates April Fools gags.

Then the twist went serious and we came around full to were we are now. There’s still humor in the strip, but there’s also a ligit undercurrent of drama that is starting to build here regarding Dandy’s inability to deal with guilt.

Trust me when I say that this is not only going somewhere, but that it’s going MULTIPLE somewheres. Enjoy the ride.
