While I was sketching out this strip, I REALLY wanted to get that stupid stack of contracts Dandy’s been holding for days now OUT of his hands. Drawing those pages over and over and working around them has been obnoxious. I should have had him put them in a box or something, but tons of papers really sell the idea better.

Strips like this one are ALWAYS tricky for me. And they’re always the most criticized since there’s no punchline. In stories like this, it’s often required to just play up a plot detail for the readers without turning it into a gag. In such cases, i try to front load the strip with SOME humor in the beginning, and I think Dandy’s dialouge in panel 1 is pretty funny. Not “PUNCHLINE” funny, per say, but funny enough to keep the tone of the strip going.

There’s not much for me to say to add to today’s strip other than to say be sure to check out Monday’s strip to see just why DANDY’S thinking “Sucker”.

Sure, it’s real paperwork and it’s all filled out properly, but as they say, the devil (Or Dandy in this case) is in the details.

THIS is the strip I’ve been dying to draw since the strip’s return from that last hiatus. As much as I enjoy playing with the status quo with stories such as this last lil’ epic, (Which has been going on since JANUARY!) I often quickly find myself looking forward to returning to drawing the gang in normal situations. So this strip was just a pure joy to draw… Dandy and Bernard are back to normal AND there’s a water balloon.

And while there will be a few loose ends and gags left to go in finishing up the rest of the “Skeezicks” misadventure, this storyline is essentially wrapped up. Although fear not… the strip is still moving forward with new material. I’m just not ready to put a cap on these guys yet. :)
