I so do love setting you all up for the story to go in one direction, then tangenting off for a bit. It’s the sadist in me. Either way, Skeezicks has clearly decided to let his hand be seen.

What comes next is ANYONES guess.

Actually, I guess it’s MINE, but that’s not as much fun.

Yup, that’s good ol’ Evil Dandy in the flesh.. not fur. Of course, WE know Skeezicks is behind the species swap, but it just made sense that Dandy would suspect his most constant adversary.

And YES, I did this exact same gag when I brought Koko the cat into the strip back in 2003. In fact, Evil Dandy is standing in the EXACT same pose as that original strip. This sequence was one of the first things I wanted to do with this story, so there was no way I was gonna pass it up just because I’ve already DONE it.

Deciding on just HOW Evil Dandy was gonna look took a little thinking. As a dog, he really doesn’t look ANYTHING like our Dandy because he’s actually the original version of Dandy I created as a kid and couldn’t draw. But I couldn’t think of a good way to make that idea come across with the redesign, so I just made him look exactly like our morphed Dandy.

Seemed like a good idea at the time.

While Bernard is being cornered by Skeezicks back home, Dandy is FINALLY putting together all the pieces. At least ONE part of this story is coming to a head.

Hey there, I have an announcement to make. Over a year ago now, I put the strip on “Indefinite Hiatus” due to the stress of my Divorce, my Grandfather’s failing health and eventual death and a lot of burn-out coming off these events. When I came back, I had stated and decided that I wouldn’t let things get that bad again, and that I would take smaller, planned breaks when things started to pile up against me, and I’m afraid that time is coming up.

My Grandmother, left behind when my Grandfather passed, is beginning to slip and my day job is putting more stress on me than any other job i’ve ever had. Add to that the fact that “TAILS TO AMAZE #2″ STILL isn’t done, and something’s gotta give. And for a short while, that’s going to have to be “Dandy & Company”.

But this ISN’T like the last hiatus, where I don’t know if or when I’ll be back. This is only going to be for about a month or two at the conclusion of this story (Which still has a GOOD few weeks to go). In the mean time, I’ll be figuring out something fun to use as a placeholder for the strip to keep you all entertained. This isn’t a crisis… I just need to step back and recharge my batteries, and I hope you all will bear with the temperamental artist again. Thanks.
