With the strip primed to return to it’s five-day-a-week schedule at the beginning of 2008, It’s about time to get back into some more meaty stories. As such, I’m finally going to get into the continuing relationship between Dandy and Maryweather which has been on hold since Maryweather left Dandy for his rival ( and eventually revealed to be his brother…) Snuffles.

Since the beginning, Maryweather and Dandy have been in an on-again, off-again relationship, but It was in THIS story that Maryweather broke up with Dandy for what would be the LAST time, eventually leading to todays strip.

Sure, it’s WAY out of season for a water balloon gag, but years of abuse from Dandy has clearly made Bernard a little hair-trigger about this ritual of theres.

If you’re thinking “What’s funny about today’s strip”, you might be in for a surprise to learn that “Dandy & Company” isn’t just a gag-a-day comic. There have been plenty of stories and strips in the history of “D&C” that have gone in more serious directions and I like to think that these characters have enough depth to handle the occasional plot that ISN’T just about water balloon gags and slapstick.

This story is one of the MAIN reasons I decided to return the strip to a five-day-a-week schedule starting next week. I’ve wanted to tell this story for a while now, but I realized that with the strip running only three-days-a-week, that telling such a drawn out tale would simply take TOO long and be TOO slow to keep up interest. That said, I hope you all are willing to take this ride with me.
