I can now officially say with conviction… STOP SENDING ME EMAILS TELLING ME TO BRING MARYWEATHER BACK!!!!

She’s back! Okay… happy!? Yeesh. Okay, all goofing aside, I was driving myself nuts trying to figure out an angle for just how to bring Maryweather back. I knew I wanted it to come out of left field without any of the foreshadowing I’m used to setting up, and this seemed like the perfect time to drop the hammer, metaphorically speaking. For Dandy, this is like adding insult to injury, which is karmically blissful.

And, of course, while drawing these strips this week, it dawned on me that Dandy’s lost his hair plenty of times only to have that ever-magic cartoon recovery by the next day. But this time I’ll drag out his pain a little. :)

This strip is just a showcase of new haircuts, isn’t it? Personally, I’ve NEVER been happy with Maryweather’s hair since the beginning. I’m enjoying drawing this newer style, and both her AND Audrey have much longer hair now, so it’s offering up more dynamics in the art. We’ll see. Maybe I need to do a Hairstyle fashon show or something. Have the artistic of you all out there submit YOUR ideas for new haircuts for Aude and Maryweather. What’cha think?

UPDATE: “Some of you might notice a short bit of downtime in the next couple of days as the dandyandcompany.com domain name will be transfering to a new host.

We’ve gotten over most the road bumps already so the downtime should not be long. At most I am guessing a day. Some internet providers DNS refreshes pretty fast so some of you may not notice any downtime.

Just letting everyone know so that no one gets worried and sends off emails to admin@dandyandcompany.com! We know it’ll be happening and we are just keeping you all informed.” - Your friendly neigborhood Webmasters.

Isn’t awkward silence FUN!

So yes… Maryweather IS back for the long haul. However, I don’t intend to tell the full story behind everything she did while away all at once. I’d rather just get back to the day-to-day stories and let her tell things in her own way and time.

In many ways, Audrey is the LEAST equiped, emotionally, to deal with all the crazy things that happen in this strip, so she’s happy as all get out to have her rock back in Maryweather. Of course, what she doesn’t realize yet is that with Maryweather BACK, she’s far more likely to get INVOLVED in the various adventures Dandy & Bernard start up. Double edged swords and all.
