There’s no happy way to add anything to today’s message. I’ve been delaying this decision for weeks now. In many ways, since July when my marriage came to an end, I’ve been trying really hard to keep my energy and creativity up on a story that has so much to do with my married life.

I’ve been working with Dandy, Bernard and the gang for over 20 years now in one way or another, and I have no doubt that i’ll return to this universe soon enough. But for now, I just don’t have it in me to keep it going just for the sake of doing so. I don’t want the strip or the characters to suffer, and the best way to do that is to step away from it for a while.

I know this is going to ruin some of your days out there, and I can assure you that it is no less depressing for me. I’ll be re-running the strip over from the beginning starting next week and will keep updating new grams and hanging out in the forum to keep all of you Dandyphiles posted on just what I’m up to and where Dandy & Co. is at.

For those of you who want to keep abrest of new “Dandy” stories or other “Dandy” news, i’ve established a thread in the forums where you can do just that. Just sign up for the forums and post in the new thered, and you’ll be automatically updated when there’s Dandy & Co. news!

Thanks again for all of your support over the past 4 years. This has been awesome!

Even though I’m on hiatus for the forseable future, I’m not about to let “Dandy & Company” just go away! Insetad, I’ll be running these classic strips from the beginning of Dandy’s online tour of duty. For those of you new to the strip, these will be fresh adventures and for you veterans of Dandy-land, these strips will be like a walk down memory lane. Either way, I hope you enjoy.

Ahhh, a decent Christmas has now passed. I got the Complete Calvin and Hobbes collection for Christmas myself and spent a few hours reading it, alternating from joy to morbid depression over my own lack of skills like windshield wipers with every strip I read.

That said, this collection is so massive that when I took it home and put it on the passenger seat, my car started beeping over and over again for the “Passenger” to buckle up. Seems the book is SO heavy that my car’s sensors thought it was a PERSON. I actually had to buckle it up to get my car to shut up! Seriously.

Hey all, sorry that I haven’t been around much making with the grams the last couple of days. On January 27th, I’m going to be attending the FX Comic and Toy collectable Extravaganza where I’ll be premiering my NEW comic book, TAILS TO AMAZE! By now, you’ve all probably heard enough about “Tails” to last you a lifetime, but I’m really excited about this book. It’s co-created and written by my good friend, Marc Hammond and it’s the adventures of the Sidekick pets of everyone’s favorite heroes when those very heroes are nowhere to be found!

Well, in order to get the first issue completed and printed for the show, I’ve had to put in a lot of all-nighters lately, but it’s done! Whew! Now I just need to cross my fingers and pray that all goes well with the printers.

TAILS TO AMAZE is off and running, with an updated website and forum of it’s own. In time, I plan to fold the Dandy and Big Pond websites into one banner UNDER the new studio I’ve formed with TAILS creator and writer, Marc Hammond, HALF MOOSE MEDIA! Right now, you can read the 8-Page prequel adventure staring the mysterious DARK NUT© online at Half Moose Media’s website.

The first, full color issue of TAILS premiered at the FX Comics and Collectables show this past January 27th and was a BIG hit, having been very well recieved by fans and other creators alike, and Marc and I are already hard at work on the next thrilling issue.

HOWEVER, I know you guys are here first and foremost for the adventures of your favorite dog and his boy, and I want to assure you that the chapter on “Dandy and Company” is far from over. Within the next few weeks, I plan to solicit the FIFTH collection of Dandy strips, yet to be titled. It will include all of Beanie Quest III, the One Year Later strips AND the short stories from the ANTHROLOGY comic book. And in the mean time, you can keep your eyes pealed for cameos by Dandy in his superheroic guise of DOGSTAR in, of course, TAILS TO AMAZE! What, did you think I’d be drawing a book about pet superheroes WITHOUT putting Dandy in there!?
