an artsy-fartsy aside…
I know that I just took a little aside on Monday to have a laugh at the expense of my own pain. (Slammed my finger in the hood of my car, fyi.) So you might be wondering why I did this kind of aside in a story where I’ve already DONE one. Well, in today’s case, it has everything to do with Monday’s strip.
Once I decided to draw that gag, it disrupted the flow of the story as it had been written. I tend to write the strip in blocks of five when I’m in a storyline that keeps going like this current “Vacation” arc. As such, the momentum was disrupted a little when I decided to follow my whim on Monday. Rather than mess up what WOULD have been a Thursday strip by playing it on a Friday, I decided to cut the week up, and reorganize the story a little NEXT week, and doing that required today’s strip be seperaed from the overall story.
That, and I did just feel like drawing a purty picture.
