As I was drawing this strip and the one before it, I had to once again remind myself that I’m in FLORIDA writing it during early September. And that the strip is taking place at the end of October in Ohio, so Jackets are required.

There really isn’t a single stable relationship in the strip, is there. Between Dandy & Maryweather’s on again/off again pseudo-relationship, Bernard and Audrey’s weird dynamic and George and Mae’s… WHATEVER that is, everyone’s a little off.

Audrey and Bernard have a completely one-sided relationship and Audrey has the keys. As such, even something as simple as Bernard pointing out that she was mad over nothing is against the rules. I’ve been in that relationship before, and was about as non-confrontational about it as Bernard here. sigh

Dandy & Company’s COMMUNITY THEATER is BACK! With the return of the commissions program, I’ve generated enough original art to keep the Sunday’s filled up throughout the end of the year. So, in a way, this is YOUR day now!

And you can be a part of the fun by making a request for your OWN ORIGINAL “Dandy & Co.” ART! It’s an original, hand drawn “D&C” piece made to YOUR specifications, and NOW that the commissions will be fueling Sunday’s around here, you can REALLY be a part of the action. Just click here for details!

And you can clearly see where Bernard inherited his relationship skills from.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Well, obviously today’s strip is a homage to the late, great Charles Schulz’s classic comic and animated masterpiece, PEANUTS. But it’s also inspired by a recent homage strip rendered INCREDIBLY by D.C. Simpson of OZY and MILLIE, staring his titular characters as if they were drawn by the incomparable Walt Kelly of POGO! D.C. captured Kelly’s artwork, line sensitivity and HUMOR so perfectly, that I had to give today’s strip a try. I still think D.C. did HIS homage better, but I had a lot of fun anyway.

As for the strips content NOT being the gang in costumes, I have to admit that while I LOVE Halloween I really didn’t want to do a story like that for the same reasons as Dandy… I just finished the Demon story and didn’t want to do another similar looking gag. Of course, some of you may recal I did a similar “Peanuts” themed gag LAST year around this time… but I was never quite happy with how that turned out.
