Well, the more things change, the more they stay the same. One recurring element throughout the strips history has been my regular and consistant dislike of the over-marketing of Christmas. And to be perfectly frank, since my Local WalMarts and Targets have had Christmas stuff up and out since AUGUST, this I feel like I really constrained myself by waiting until after Halloween to just make FUN of it again.

Of course, in the spirit of having the holiday crammed down our collective throats, here are a few MORE times I’ve made this point. Just some blasts from Dandy’s past for you all to enjoy!

Dandy & Company’s COMMUNITY THEATER is BACK! With the return of the commissions program, I’ve generated enough original art to keep the Sunday’s filled up throughout the end of the year. So, in a way, this is YOUR day now!

And you can be a part of the fun by making a request for your OWN ORIGINAL “Dandy & Co.” ART! It’s an original, hand drawn “D&C” piece made to YOUR specifications, and NOW that the commissions will be fueling Sunday’s around here, you can REALLY be a part of the action. Just click here for details!

I have to admit, that I don’t get all bent out of shape about this politically correct re-naming practice like Audrey is getting here. I tend to find the whole “War Against Christmas” nonsense being screamed about on shows like the O’Reilly Factor every year pretty funny. Why should I be offended because some stores and schools DON’T want to offend a signifigant portion of their customers? It is beyond me.

Sometimes, after a lengthy bit of plot and lots of gabbing like in monday’s strip, it’s fut to just cut over to Dandy’s little brother, MISTAKE, and relax for a while.

Strips like today’s are a prime example of what cartoonists are talking about when we say things like: “I really like to let the characters write themselves.”

Wednesday’s strip with Mistake playing in the leaves was just envisioned as a nice, stand alone fun sight gag. Kind of a sorbet between plots, really. But as soon as I wrote it, THIS strip popped into my head because Mistake’s strip WAS so sugary. Dandy can’t stand sentiment like that and it was a prime opportunity to break the 4th wall and let Dandy just BE Dandy for a few panels and whine. I like when the personalities are so well defined that a strip like today’s just happens.
