UPDATE: Hey, everyone. I’ve been plugging away at doing some commissions, and have enough to populate a NEW round of “Community Theater” strips, so until I run out of commissions, Dandy & Co. is back on Sunday’s! Tune in!

After years of folks trying to get me to put my artwork for sale on EBAY, I finally decided to give it a try. Of course, with the strip being drawn DIGITALLY, I have very few options to do any REAL original art. But last year, I DID produce 12 original, full color watercolor illustrations for the 2007 Dandy & Company Calendar that I’ve been holding onto for just such an occasion.

So, fo a limited time, I’m offering up all 12 pieces of original art from the 2007 Calendar for auction on EBAY. These pieces are 8.5″ X 11″, watercolor illustrations and are each one of a kind original “Dandy & Company” art. You can check out previews of the images and see their ebay listings here.

I hope this is a treat for anyone interested in owning a REAL piece of “D&C” history. (And I’d like to add, that if anyone bids on and wins more than ONE piece of original art in any of these auctions, I will refund the shipping costs down to all but one cost, as obviously I would be able to send all the pieces of art in one package to you.) Hope you enjoy.

If you’re wondering why the shadows and lighting is so different from yesterday’s strip, there IS a reason. If you remember, it was implyed that Maryweather had been up exceptionally late researching when she and Dandy started chatting. So by today’s strip, it’s morning. The main reason I wanted it to be morning was so that there wold be a decent reason for Bernard to be up and outside so that Maryweather could reasonably HEAR when he got hit by the magic water balloon. I know, that’s probably a little anal on my part, but it works for me.

While I DO love me some pickles, I don’t think I’d sell my soul for them. Maybe someone ELSE’S soul, but not my own.

That said, don’t strain yourself wondering who this guy is. He’s not an existing character… he’s not based on anyone I know… he’s just a guy I made up because I needed some random person. I THOUGHT about maybe doing a caricature of a friend, but that might have come off as too… specific. I dunno. But anywho.. it’s a throwaway design, so don’t get all attached.

Now, on second thought, there’s a deli in New Jersey called “Harold’s” that has a Pickle bar in it that I MIGHT consider making a sale for.

While Herb’s been around in the background of the strip a while now, he’s not really a core cast member and really is never involved in any of the crazier things that happen to the main gang. So, of course, Bernard doesn’t want to tell herb that he spent the summer as a DOG just prior to his dog becoming a demon. That sort of thing rarely ends well.

My original intention here was to have a big ol’ thought balloon in the third panel with pics of Bernard as a dog and demon Dandy to slam the point home, but I think his expression sells it well enough and it’s not like I go subtle around here TOO often. It was nice for a change.
