It should start becoming clear that some of the changes to reality in this storyline are designed to be as horrifying as possible to our species-switched heroes, Dandy and Bernard. There’s no LOGICAL reason for our humanized Pumpkin to be Dandy’s mother except that there’s nobody Dandy would LEAST like to be lorded over by.
