Love it or hate it… (I love it, for the record.) Here’s the cast of D&C in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
Of course, I have to keep recasting the characters with each new gag, but Dandy as Darth Maul should be worth the price of admission alone!
Tune in next Sunday for ATTACK OF THE CLONES!
Hope to see you this weekend at the all-new, ORLANDO Comic Convention, here in way-too-sunny Florida. I’m probably there RIGHT NOW, selling comics, doing drawings and having a blast! Hope to see some DandyFanatics there!
UPDATE: I’ve entered a classic Dandy strip into the fray at WEBCOMIC BATTLE! Click on over and vote to make Dandy & Co. the WINNER!

Desperation makes for strange bedfellows. On any other day, Dandy would hardly step NEAR such a contraption, but the dog is clearly desperate.
Now, I have to admit, this particulat story is a bit sillier than I’ve done in a while, but while drawing these strips, I’ve been watching the ANIMANIACS on DVD pretty much non-stop. That tends to stir up the love of the silly.
UPDATE: TOTAL CHAOS RETURNS!
You heard… or read… correctly! Starting the week of October 9th, in celebration of Dandy & Company’s FIFTH anniversary online, I’ll be taking the week off and leaving the strip in the able hands… OF YOU!!!!
That’s right, it’s TOTAL CHAOS V: Revenge of the Guest Artists! Now, I know what you’re thinking… Derrick, you dink, there wasn’t a Total Chaos IV… how can this be number V? Well, there wasn’t an officially announced guest week last year in october, but I DID call in help from guest artists to assist me for a week during Beanie-Quest III with guest strips. So, as such, there WAS an impromptu guest week last year, and I’m COUNTIN’ it, dang nabbit! So we’re at 5… I mean V!
With that all behind us, I’m trying to wrangle up a couple of “Name” artists to pitch in this time, but am still going to open the floor to submissions from you all… the Dandy Fans out there! I’ll cram as many strips as I can into that week, so sharpen those pencils and get crackin’! Dandy & Co. needs you! Submissions begin immediately and continue unti the week of October 9th. All submissions can be no larger than 950 px wide, but any height you want in either color or black and white. Keep in mind that all strips MUST adhear to the ‘all ages appropriate” standard that this strip strives for… other than THAT, enjoy!

At first, you may think that Mistake looks way too big, but it’s just that Dandy SHRUNK. ;)
Look at him… he looks like jerky!

You can do your part ot keep the funny flowing fresh by visiting our handy-dandy (pun intended) DONATIONS page and pitching in to help support the website and it’s sad, sorry cartoonist. (Aka, ME.)
And as a special added bonus, any donations totaling $15 (fifteen dollars) or more comes complete with the first, full color issue of my new comic, TAILS TO AMAZE! This is the exclusive convention edition with the snazzy sketch rear cover where I’ll draw one of the awesome new characters just for you! This also includes the 8 page, black and white preview comic, also a convention exclusive! If that’s not worth it, I don’t know what is!
Ya’ know… after all these years, you think writing Mistakeese would get easier, but it’s doesn’t. And I don’t even BOTHER running his dialouge through a spell check anymore. But strips where he’s talking with someone else at length can be annoying to check.
Anywho, this story line was actually a tough one to decide to do, since it marks a BIG turning point in the strip: Mistake’s awareness. Sure, i’ve been building the idea of him as a genius-savant for a while, but he’s hit the point where it’s clear that he knows what he’s doing, as as such, is aware of CONCEQUENCES. Before now, it took a major feat for him to even be aware of any danger in the strip. But now he’s worried for Dandy and he knows WHY. He grew up a bit, and now I have to stick the proverbial landing and hope you all like this new development in his character.

In many ways, this is the simplist of the Star Wars gags, as there’s really no Background treatment, but it’s one of my FAVORITES because of the post I put Yoda/Mistake in. It’s both funny AND Cool! And for the record, standing in for Jango Fett is, in fact, Snuffles.
Sadly, I have yet to have completed the series, so no REVENGE OF THE SITH for next week. :( But someday SOON I’m sure I’ll get to it.)
