I can now officially say with conviction… STOP SENDING ME EMAILS TELLING ME TO BRING MARYWEATHER BACK!!!!
She’s back! Okay… happy!? Yeesh. Okay, all goofing aside, I was driving myself nuts trying to figure out an angle for just how to bring Maryweather back. I knew I wanted it to come out of left field without any of the foreshadowing I’m used to setting up, and this seemed like the perfect time to drop the hammer, metaphorically speaking. For Dandy, this is like adding insult to injury, which is karmically blissful.
And, of course, while drawing these strips this week, it dawned on me that Dandy’s lost his hair plenty of times only to have that ever-magic cartoon recovery by the next day. But this time I’ll drag out his pain a little. :)
