It should be clear by now that the NEW cosmic Beanie, having just been created in the heart of Dr. Mistake’s Infinity Drive engine, is a bit fresher and more powerful than it’s millions of years older self atop Evil Bernard’s noggin. As such, it’s exhibiting a few new twists like the absorbtion of it’s later self and the creation of Bernard’s Super heroic threads upon his whim.

It should also be clear by now that Dandy IS, in fact, quite a jerk when given the chance.

After the last few days of cosmic, no-holds-barred action, it was nice to step back and relax for a strip. Of course, in this case, while it’s much calmer, it required ALL the principle characters interacting to work.

Now, personally, I think Dandy’s comments in the first panel are funnier than the actual punchlne. I love doing strips like this, where the humore comes from all over thanks to good back and forth dialouge.

Heck, in the forums, you all figured this out WEEKS ago… which is fun for me because I can then skip the boring exposition and just go for the gag. In this case, we can see that Bernard has grown up a little since the first Beanie-Quest. He’s not so keen on giving up the super powers this time. Really, can you blame him.

Ahhh… Isn’t that always the way.

Also, for those of you continuity-minded, you’ll notice that Bernard is no longer in costume. Think of the hat like the Green Lantern’s ring. The costume is a construct of his power, and without the cosmic beanie, Bernard’s outfit reverted to normal.

And thus, is time restored to it’s natural flow. Tomorrow and Friday’s strips will explain a little bit the nature of what was restored and, at least, set up the status quo for the strip from here on out.

And YES, that is the back of Maryweather’s head. I didn’t want to draw ANYTHING that would give any clues as to where she is or what she’s doing, so those of you wondering what’s happening with her will just have to keep wondering. Heh Heh Heh!

Webcomic Hurricane Relief Telethon

I’ll most certainly be contributing to this cause to raise funds for the vistims of Katrina. Living in Florida, I know that this tragedy is a bullet my town dodged this time, so the least I can do is draw up some strips to help out. If you can donate to this cause, who will pass any donations directly to the Red Cross, please do so. If you’re a web Stripper like me, drop Brad Guigar a line ans ask what you can do to help.
